Everything you need to know before visiting MIC

Questions about tickets, accessibility or facilities? Find everything you need to plan an easy visit to MIC.

Why MIC?

MIC is designed for children aged 10 months to 12 years. The museum includes experiences for different age groups, from sensory areas for babies and toddlers who are just beginning to explore the world to technical installations and 3D puzzles for older children.

Adults are welcome too, although MIC is primarily designed as an experience for children and families.

MIC is an interactive museum. Instead of long text panels or objects behind glass, the experiences are designed to be touched, activated and explored.

  • Mechanical and sensory installations that respond to movement.
  • 3D puzzles and logic games inspired by Timișoara.
  • Interactive projections and audiovisual experiences.
  • Creative workshops: cut, build, draw, colour and make.
  • Guided tours with Urecheatul.

400 m² of interactive experiences inside the Maria Theresia Bastion.

Please help us look after the museum. Light switches, power sockets and other building equipment are not part of the interactive exhibits.

Most visits last around 60–90 minutes, depending on the children’s age and how they choose to explore. Older children can easily spend up to two hours at MIC.

Very different. MIC is an interactive museum created especially for children, where the usual museum rule of “do not touch” is replaced by “discover by touching, trying and experimenting”. Curiosity is not only welcome here, it is encouraged.

MIC este un spațiu unde curiozitatea este binevenită și încurajată.

Information For Parents

MIC is located inside a historic building and is kept at a comfortable indoor temperature. The space can feel pleasantly cool in summer and is heated in winter.

What to wear

We recommend dressing in layers so you can easily adjust to the indoor temperature and active nature of the visit.

A designated area near the entrance is available for coats and bulky items. Large backpacks and bags should be left there before entering the exhibition area, making it easier to move around and helping protect the installations.

Yes. MIC has modern restrooms and a dedicated baby-changing table.

Breastfeeding is welcome throughout the museum’s public spaces. If you would prefer additional privacy, the reception team will be happy to help.

MIC can be lively and noisy, particularly on busy days. If your child has sensory sensitivities, we recommend:

  • Visiting Wednesday to Friday, when the museum is generally quieter.

  • Contacting our team in advance if you would like information about expected visitor levels on the day of your visit.

Absolutely. MIC is designed as a shared experience for children and adults, not simply a place where grown-ups stand back and supervise. The installations invite you to join in, explore and play together. Urecheatul is interested in curiosity, not age.
