grand opening MIC
MIC opens its doors for a weekend of play and discovery. Join us on Saturday, 16 May from 15:00 and Sunday, 17 May from 11:00 for free admission, guided tours with Urecheatul and full access to the museum’s interactive installations.

What is MIC and why does it exist?

MIC – Timișoara Children’s Interactive Museum – is a space for play and discovery, created for children and families. Across 400 m² inside one of the last surviving bastions of Timișoara’s former fortress, interactive installations invite visitors to explore the city’s past, present and future.

MIC is not a traditional museum. There are no displays you are told not to touch and no need to explore in silence. Every installation is designed to be touched, tested and activated. Mechanics, sensors, projections and hands-on interaction turn each visit into an adventure.

On Saturday, 16 May, we’ll be open from 15:00 to 20:00, and on Sunday from 11:00 to 20:00. Urecheatul will be there for guided tours, children can explore every installation, and there is plenty for parents to enjoy too.

How to get to MIC

MIC is located in Gallery B2 of the Maria Theresia Bastion, on Hector Street in central Timișoara. The easiest reference point is Union Square (Piața Unirii): follow the Bastion west and look for the entrance marked with the MIC logo.

Parking is available on Hector Street and at the Union Square car park, around a five-minute walk away. Public transport also stops nearby.

Tickets & reservations

No ticket is required during the opening weekend. After the launch, regular admission will be ticketed, with tickets available at the museum and online sales to follow.

More than 300 people had already confirmed their attendance on Facebook when this article was published. Places on the guided tours are limited, so arriving early is recommended.
